MATATLAN BASKETBALL

Logo Design

Santiago Matatlan is a town in Oaxaca, located in south-western Mexico. Matatlan is the World Capital of Mezcal, and I am happy to say that it is also my hometown. I had the opportunity to work on the basketball team's logo that represents Matatlan in Los Angeles.

We delivered a logo and jersey design with a classic look. The concept revolved around using symbolic and iconic images such as the hills and the agave that Matatlan produces. Inside the word "Matatlan" and the "M" logomark, we added the hills to represent the land of Matatlan. 
We explored different green tones until we found the one with good contrast against different background colors, and it is also a green that is associated with the agave that produces Mezcal.
